A Rich History
Right in the heart of the Klein-Karoo
Just outside Oudtshoorn you will find the vineyards of Sandkoppies, home of Grundheim Wines, founded in 1858. Sixgenerations of have farmed here for over a century. The farm uses a historic wine cellar with a history that dates back to over 100 years. Grundheim is famous for its use of open tank fermentation. From bottling to labeling, everything isstillpersonally supervised and we are especially known for our Witblitz and Brandy that’s made in a traditional distillery.
Our label shows a bull terrier signifying the bite and grip you will get from witblits.
Grundheim produces unique products – muscadel, port, home made liqueurs and potstill brandy. The many awards salute the popular brand. You cannot leave the Little Karoo without a product or two. Discover a treasure of taste at Grundheim.

More Than A Distillery
The farm is located between Oudtshoorn and Calitzdorp on the R 62 route, about 14 km outside Oudtshoorn. Grundheim wines have been in the Grundling family for 5 generations (current owner). The management team consists of sisters in law, Elana and Ena. Grundheim mainly specializes in sweet wines, ports, liqueurs and their flagship, the white blitz. Wines are still made and aged here in the traditional way. The white flash is used in our home-made liqueurs, which is a big hit with our clients.
